Tenuta Sarno 1860

A single grape varietal. A single vineyard. Tenuta Sarno sets the trend and Maura Sarno is now the first lady of Fiano. In homage to her father Dominic Sarno, well-known notary of Avellino, Maura set out to recapture the passion and great respect of her father for their land of origin, Candida, located 625 metres above sea level in the comune of Avellino. The desire was to make a Fiano, oldstyle. After completing her studies as Sommelier, she turned her attention to the land. Serious in her quest, she cultivated solely the one varietal and hired consulting Campania enologist Vincenzo Mercurio to work alongside her. Organically farmed, the vineyards are situated on 4.5 hectares and are planted on rich soil deposits of calcareous clay and limestone characteristic of the region- a phenomenon attributable to the great eruption of Mount Vesuvius, back in 1944.

The unique label, a pencil portrait of Maura’s parents, is the work of famed Sicilian artist Giovanni Iudica, who enthusiastically consented to “the union of art and wine” where the belief is that wine is the artistic expression of the land.

The results - the Azienda’s philosophy and the meticulous work applied in reaching its objectives are based on simple, straightforward fundamentals: commitment to a singular wine, cultivating a unique site of the region, Candida, to give life to a unique product, unmistakably linked to its origins. “Insomma”, an honest, authentic expression of the land.
